Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager

The Missouri Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (MCCoE) SOC Manager supports a 24/7/365 SOC and manages teams that monitor security tools and provide tiered response to security incidents.  Ensures detection and response to cyber security threats to ensure organization operates securely. Manages SOC team, develops policies and procedures, and keeps the CISO informed about security operations. The SOC Manager develops, maintains, and ensures standard operating procedures, as aligned to ISO 27001 and SOC2, are followed for detecting, classifying, and reporting incidents. Passionate about working with students, interns, volunteers, clients and Cybersecurity Activities in the State of Missouri, Region, and Local Cities, Towns, and Communities.


Requirements:

  • Displays a Strong yet Caring leadership and passion for working with students and clients.
  • Self Starter that can build, guide, mentor and manage team.
  • Displays Technical expertise in SOC operations.
  • Has a deep understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of network technologies such as: Windows, Linux, and IOS Operating Systems; Database security, Active Directory, Cloud Computing, Service Oriented Architectures, vulnerability scanning and testing, networking protocols and topologies, security tools and architectures, and incident management.
  • Ensures the development and maintenance of technical solutions and tools including information operations, and analysis related to security intrusion analysis, systems and vulnerabilities, network security, advanced analytic tools, data visualization techniques.
  • Supervises all SOC positions:
  • Lead analyst in the detection of malicious activity to prevent, detect, contain, and eradicated intrusions and intrusion attempts.
  • Conducts analysis of system logs, forensic results, vulnerability assessment tool results, risk, and investigate instances of security concern throughout the enterprise.
  • Ensures required policies cyber security are adhered to and that required controls are implemented.
  • Ability to train and mentor SOC staff.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field or equivalent education or work experience.
  • Five years of experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in an independent manner.
  • Ability to lead teams of people to include working with clients and leadership.
  • CISSP or equivalent certifications.

The Missouri Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (MCCoE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), Public-Private Partnership between Academia, Industry, Non-Profits and Government, security operations center that brings together students, small to medium sized businesses and government agencies, and the community.  The MCCoE provides cybersecurity services for businesses and agencies utilizing the skills and knowledge of the students admitted into the program via a Player/Coach/Mentor Framework.
