As the Commercial Sales Specialist at White River Connect (WRC), you will play a vital role in driving the growth of our business services by connecting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to high-speed, reliable fiber internet and telephony solutions. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, educating prospects, and delivering customized connectivity solutions that help local businesses thrive. Your agility, resourcefulness, and dedication to providing a best-in-class customer experience will be key to your success in this field-based role.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Customer Engagement and Outreach: Identify, engage, and develop relationships with SMBs within an assigned territory. Conduct proactive outreach, including cold calls, walk-ins, scheduled visits, and participation in local events.
• Consultative Sales: Understand business customer needs and pain points. Work with Service Delivery to recommend tailored fiber internet and voice solutions that align with operational goals. Clearly communicate product benefits, pricing, and implementation timelines.
• Sales Cycle Management: Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and qualification through proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
• CRM and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of leads, sales activities, and pipeline status in the company’s CRM. Provide regular updates and insights to the sales leadership team.
• Community Presence: Work cross-functionally with other departments at WRC, engaging in local chamber of commerce meetings, trade shows, and community events to strengthen brand visibility and trust. Your involvement will reflect a strong commitment to WRC’s mission of delivering high-quality, community-focused service, while collaborating with diverse internal teams to ensure seamless experience for clients and continued business growth.
• Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with various departments to ensure smooth onboarding and customer satisfaction post-sale.
• Territory Development: Monitor market activity, business growth trends, and competitor offerings within your territory. Use this information to identify new sales opportunities and improve outreach strategies.
• Time and Task Management: Balance outreach efforts with administrative tasks, follow-ups, and customer communications. Stay organized and accountable through consistent documentation and scheduling.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of product and service launches and business development initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Demonstrated success in B2B sales for two or more years, preferably in telecommunications, broadband, utilities, or technology.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and convey technical concepts clearly.
• Agility to shift between prospecting, meetings, CRM updates, and follow-ups throughout the day.
• Organizational skills to manage leads, schedule meetings, and document progress effectively.
• Resourcefulness in researching solutions and resolving issues independently or with internal teams.
• High level of personal initiative and motivation to meet and exceed sales targets.
• Comfortable operating in diverse business environments, from retail to professional services.
• Familiarity with CRM platforms and reporting tools.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally on a regular basis.
Relationships:
• Local Business Community: Establish trust with business owners and decision-makers in a variety of industries.
• Community Organizations: Build relationships with chambers of commerce, economic development groups, and local event organizers.
• Industry Partners: Collaborate with vendors and solution partners when necessary to support customer needs.
• Internal Teams: Work with cross-functional departments to deliver seamless customer experience from sales to service delivery.
Required Education and Experience:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant sales experience.
Working Conditions:
• Working inside and outside during regular hours. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.
• Occasional weekends, evening work, and holidays may be required to meet customer needs.
• Normal safety precautions and practices are required.
• Position may require travel outside the service area from time to time.
Physical Effort and Dexterity:
• Frequent physical activity that includes sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time, standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying materials under 50 pounds.
Machines, Tools, and Equipment:
• Capable of operating a personal computer and related software. Must be able to operate office and telecommunications equipment.
Visual Acuity, Hearing, and Speaking:
• Able to review and analyze data and enter information into software platforms with accuracy.
• Actively listen to and understand verbal instructions and contribute effectively.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.
