Midpoint: $1,769.76

Job Description:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Manager – SpringNet Business Development or their designee, this position supports and contributes to the marketing and customer acquisition efforts of City Utilities’ SpringNet division. This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective customers while providing consultative support to evaluate and meet their business needs. This individual will be responsible for proposing, negotiating, and securing contracts for technical services such as Internet Service Provider (ISP), Local Area Network (LAN), and Voice over IP (VOIP) solutions. Additionally, the role includes identifying, onboarding, and managing qualified Referral Partners, including educating them on service offerings and overseeing contractual agreements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Generates and maintains SpringNet contacts. Currently, SpringNet utilizes a “referral” business development methodology.
2. Under the general direction of the Manager-SpringNet Business Development, is primarily responsible for responding to and following up on all initial inquiries regarding SpringNet service offerings.
3. Under the general direction of the Manager-SpringNet Business Development, attains rate of return or margin objectives and customer service goals.
4. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of SpringNet’s fiber infrastructure, existing services, and assists in developing future service offerings.
5. Works with potential and current customers to develop a partnership; Ability to demonstrate the value that SpringNet’s services provide.
6. Gathers competitive product information to help understand the current and future competitive landscape.
7. Develops and assists with the rollout of new product/service offerings, marketing plans, and promotional strategies and tactics.
8. Acts as an external as well as an internal customer liaison.
9. Assists Manager-SpringNet Business Development and other appropriate internal personnel with customer service issues.
10. Assists in producing and managing SpringNet exhibits in appropriate market trade shows.
11. Has a thorough understanding of and consistently demonstrates a commitment to CU’s Code of Ethics and SpringNet’s Mission Statement.
12. Plans and coordinates of activities and marketing events for the community and SpringNet customers.
13. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Computer Information Systems, or related field is required. Formal or certified sales experience is required. Exceptional sales experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis in lieu of a college degree. Two years’ recent progressively responsible business development experience, sales support, or customer service with VOIP, data networking, and/or ISP products and services is required. Must have a proven track record of sales, in data networking, VOIP, and/or ISP products.
Licensing/Certification:
Must have a valid driver’s license (minimum Class F).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Energetic, visionary, and positive communication skills, as this person will be representing City Utilities’ SpringNet in the community.
Broad technical background and a high-level working knowledge of data networking and/or ISP services and equipment.
Ability to:
Communicate technical information in non-technical terms.
Work independently, unsupervised, and deal effectively with City Utilities’ personnel and the general public.
Meet deadlines and schedule work for timely completion.
Effectively utilize a range of digital tools and platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, enterprise software, artificial intelligence-enhanced applications, and self-service systems. Must possess a willingness and capacity to learn and adapt to emerging technologies, including mobile devices, cloud-based systems, and data-driven platforms relevant to utility operations.
Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
Highly organized and self-directed.
Advanced knowledge of City Utilities’ networking equipment, standards, and procedures.
Maintain adherence to all company policies.
Physical Requirements:
Typically, sedentary work. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. Bending and stooping may be required for filing and file retrieval.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment. Requires in-town travel and occasional out-of-town travel. May require occasional late hours and weekend work.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
Employee must remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and maintain the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a timely manner.
Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.
